Audi plans three new SUVs until 2016

Audi sources have confirmed that the Ingolstadt company plans to double its SUV models until 2016 the latest, says a report from CAR magazine. The first one will be the Q-5 based Q4 that will rival models like, the very successful, Range Rover Evoque.

It also plans a BMW-X5 rivalling crossover, based on the new modular platform that will also underpin the second generations of both the Q5 and the Q7. The Q6 will be most likely be launched in 2016 and Audi intends to market it as a stylish, yet more practical, alternative to the X5.

Last, but not least, Audi is seriously thinking about a small-size crossover (Q2?) based on the A1 platform. If it gets the go ahead, it won’t be launched before 2015 and will be a premium rival to rivals like the Mini Countryman and the Nissan Juke.
